This hand crafted  decorative piece from the 1960’s is attributed to the Kota people’s. On the backside of this piece is marked “made in Ghana” however these reliquary figures (mbulu ngulu) are typically found in the region of Gabon. These reliquary figures helped a nomadic society to honor their loved ones after death. Made of hammered brass and mahogany.
